GOTEBORG vs MJALLBY: BETTING PREVIEW & PICK

SWEDEN ALLSVENSKAN

Here’s an intriguing point: four of the last five meetings between these two clubs ended with the away team winning. Both of last season’s fixtures had 0-1 scorelines in favour of the away team. However, Mjällby has only won once in their last six encounters, while Goteborg has secured four victories.

GOTEBORG – NOTHING SPECIAL

In their opening 30 matches, Goteborg accumulated 8 points, with an interesting twist: 7 points came from away games. Six points were earned through wins against Brommapojkarna and Kalmar. In the last round, Goteborg drew 2-2 with Sirius. Their only home point was from a 1-1 draw against Norrkoping. Meanwhile, they suffered defeats against Djurgarden, Halmstad, Hacken, GAIS, and Malmo, all of whom claimed three points from Jens Berthel Askou’s team.

Since last season, Goteborg has increased its squad size. However, Berthel Askou is currently without 10 players, including Laurs Skjellerup, Arbnor Mucolli, Anders Trondsen, Abundance Salaou, Hussein Carneil, Suleiman Abdullahi, Emil Salomonsson, Anders Kristiansen, Oscar Wendt, and Pontus Dahlberg. None of these players featured in the last round, forcing the club to make up the squad with second-team members.

Last season, Mjällby finished in tenth place with 41 points, 7 more than Goteborg, who finished 13th. Interestingly, Mjällby was the third-best road team, earning 26 points from away games, compared to Goteborg’s 19 points at home.

With an average age of 23.2, Mjällby boasts one of the youngest squads in the Swedish Allsvenskan. Head coach Anders Torstensson is making the most of this youthful energy, winning five and drawing two of their nine games.

Mjällby’s defeats this season came on the road against GAIS and Vasteras, but they secured wins against Hacken and Halmstad. They are on a strong run, having won three of their last four games, with the other ending in a draw.

For this match, Tom Pettersson remains unavailable for Mjällby. Given the team’s current form, Torstensson will stick with his preferred 3-5-2 formation.

With a 0.25 goal start, Mjällby!
