Haka entered their last game on a seven-match unbeaten run, with five being league games. However, a 5-0 defeat by league leaders Ilves served as a harsh reality check.

During that match, Mastokangas had the opportunity to score from the penalty spot for the visitors, but Ilves goalkeeper Otso Virtanen made a crucial save. The aftermath of the penalty saw three yellow cards issued to the hosts, which seemed to spark a positive response. From that point on, Ilves exploited Haka’s stretched defence and scored five goals in the process.

Under head coach Andy Smith, Haka has a home record of 2-1-1. They secured victories against Ekranas and SJK, and a draw with HJK was another positive result. With 10 points from 7 games, Haka sits in sixth place in the league.

For today’s game, Haka will be without goalkeeper Liam Hughes, and Marko Bacanin faces a fitness test. Looking back to last season, Haka remained unbeaten at Tehtaan Kenttä during the main season, although 9 of their 11 matches ended in draws, including one against today’s opponent. AC Oulu won the reverse fixture 3-0, and another match in the relegation group ended in a draw at this stadium.

As for AC Oulu, they finished last season one place and seven points ahead of Haka. Notably, 17 of their 31 points were earned on the road, which is two more than Haka managed at home. During the off-season, Rauno Ojanen expanded his squad to 31 players, with an average age of just 21.7 years, making AC Oulu the youngest squad in the league. Despite their youth, the Navy Blues have a higher squad value than Haka and are starting to find their form.

While AC Oulu only managed four points from their first seven games, they come into this match on the back of draws against Mariehamn and Gnistan. Their three losses were all by one-goal margins against better clubs, indicating that those results could have been different with a bit of luck.

Ojanen will be without Alexander Forsström and Jowin Radzinski for today’s game, while Aleksi Pannanen is a doubt. Nevertheless, the visitors have at least 28 players available.

Expect improvement from Oulu, they are a value bet!
