The reverse leg ended 1-0 for Twente. In a match of limited chances, it was the then-hosts who scored a 53rd-minute winner.

While the scoreline was a fair reflection of what happened on the field, the Tukkers failed to impress. To add a bit of perspective to the result, Joseph Oosting’s men were the 1.28 favorites for that match.

During the closed season, Twente pocketed €9 million from player trades.  8 players left the club and only 5 arrived. For the record, the squad size dwindled down to 21 players.

If we go back to the last Eredivisie campaign, Twente took 43 points at home. In fact, they went through the season unbeaten (13-4-0) at the De Grolsch Veste. However, on the road, the Reds could only muster 21 points from a 5-6-1.

Meanwhile, following 18 Swedish Allsvenskan games, Hammarby is just 6th in the table. Indeed, with 12 games remaining, the Bajan have a 13-point gap to the European places.

On a positive note, the Stockholm-based club has been saving their best for home matches. At the Tele 2 stadium, Marti Cifuentes is 6-1-1 with one of the wins being against Djurgarden.

At the weekend, the Bajan got the better (2-1) of Norrkoping. On that occasion, Nalic was preferred in attack and he rewarded his team with a 56th-minute goal. Djukanovic replaced the striker on 74 minutes and on 91 minutes Montenegro International scored the winner.

As for team news, the hosts are missing five players. Incidentally, 4 of those are unused this season, and the other Abdel Boudah wouldn’t be a first-team regular.

The Dutch League is better than the Swedish League, but Twente hasn’t shown much ambition. Cashing in on players and reducing squad size suggests the Tukkers will be weaker this season. The other big factor is Hammarby getting home advantage against a poor traveler. Finally, Twente didn’t do enough in the reverse leg and they are being overrated in the betting market.
