1:37 TOP VILLE BEN 9/2

Only 6 runners are going to post for this Class 3 race. Nevertheless, it’s 7/2 the field, and I’ve got a definite betting plan!

GOOD WORK was 2nd on ten occasions, but he’s yet to win in 18 attempts. While he should find a race eventually, he’s prone to making jumping errors. With that in mind, these stiff fences will find him out!

As for ZHIGULI, I’m convinced that he would do better on a right-handed track. While the 9-year-old won three races on a left-handed course, he’s got a tendency to jump out to the right.

Meanwhile, REGAL BLUE comes from a stable that I never bet! Jonjo O’Neill’s 7-year-old is entitled to improve, it’s just that his jumping went to pot before being pulled up at Lingfield.

The one receiving early support is PLANNED PARADISE. However, at this time of the day, it doesn’t take much money to force the odds to drop. With that said, the 8-year-old gets the distance and he’s on a fair weight. To cut a long story short, I wouldn’t want to lay him, but at these odds he’s uninteresting!

LADRONNE would prefer faster ground than he will encounter here. The 6 times winner was pulled up in one of his heavy ground races, and he was 4th/6 on his other start on this type of ground!

SELECTION REASONS

Despite being the top-weight and oldest runner in the race, I readily prefer TOP VILLE BEN. The 12-year-old won 9 of his 41 races, and he’s best suited by a small field. A recent 8th/25 at Leopardstown should have put him spot on, and he’s 10 pounds lower than when he finished 2nd in a hurdle at this meeting last year. Finally, he’s best equipped to race at 2M4.5F, and Haydock is his type of course.
