1:10 MADIBA PASSION 10/1

From a mark of 101, Kerry Lee’s 7-year-old GREENROCK ABBEY will need to improve for first-time cheekpieces.

Meanwhile, FOLLY GATE would have won his last race but for falling at the last fence. Unfortunately, the mount of Peter Summers was raised 5 pounds for that effort, and the extra weight won’t help his cause.

I could be tempted by last-time-out winner VALIRANN GOLD. He was well suited by a change to front-running tactics, and he should be allowed to lead again today.

However, at these odds, I have to take a chance two times point-to-point winner MADIBA PASSION. Alan King’s lightly raced 9-year-old is handicapped on hurdles form. He’s clearly equipped to do better at this game, and a first-time hood suggests they mean business.

Since he comes from a stable in excellent form and has won fresh in the past, fitness is assured. Finally, the son of AL NAMIX is bred for easy ground, and he won one of his point-to-points on the same.

HEREFORD 13:40 RAMO 9/4

MISSED TEA appears to have scope for improvement. Nevertheless, she looked awkward before winning at Uttoxeter, and a mark of 109 isn’t a gift. While the Skeltons have their string in good form, the 6-year-old is short odds.

LEADING THEATRE ticks the ready and willing box, and a mark of 106 is fair enough. For the most part, a good case can be made for Fergal O’Brien’s 7-year-old.

However, I have two issues with the daughter of LEADING LIGHT, and the first of them is she’s more exposed than the others. My other concern is the ground because she’s done her winning on ‘’good’’.

Despite running below par last time out, I’m with RAMO. Venetia Williams gelding had a year off the track before starting for new connections. On his British debut, the 6-year-old ran a credible 4/13 to KELLAHEN.

Furthermore, he left the impression of better to come, and faster ground could be an excuse for his last run. Having just watched a replay of his only French race, surely he’s got enough ability to cover a mark of 100.
