LUCIA BRONZETTI vs ALYCIA PARKS – PREVIEW
WTA RABAT
The nonchalant Alycia Parks is doing better than we had expected. However, she’s being helped by her opponent’s underperforming, and it’s going to get tougher!
In the first round, Parks made hard work out of beating 236-ranked Anastasia Tikhonova. In fact, her opponent missed out on two set points in the second-set tiebreak.
While Park’s next match against Kamilla Rakhimova was easier, her opponent made no effort in the second set!
For the record, Parks likes to play on the front foot. She lacks consistency, and her ‘’all-in’’ style is fraught with risk. Despite winning those matches, Alycia made 12 double faults and was broken 4 times by qualifier Tikhonova.
On a positive note, Parks recently broke into the top fifty for the first time. With that said, she’s not at her best on clay, and she needs a lot more consistency.
As for Lucia Bronzetti, she was made to fight hard by her two opponents. Nevertheless, both were quality players, and the way the Italians saw it out was impressive!
Bronzetti won her first match of the week against Rebecca Peterson. For the most part, the 24-year-old played the percentage game better than her opponent.
Meanwhile, in the next round, Lucia was fantastic in seeing off the challenge of Tatjana Maria. Despite being tested by her opponent’s different game, Bronzetti grew into the match and saw it through in 2:54.
To be analytical, Bronzetti had two hard matches against a good class of opponents. While she could be feeling it, we didn’t see any signs of her weakening. To cut a long story short, Lucia is in great shape and she should make it to the semi-final again!
