MANCHESTER CITY vs ARSENAL – BETTING PICK

ENGLAND FA CUP

The top two teams in the Premier League are going head-to-head in R16 of the FA Cup. As it stands, Arsenal has a 5-point cushion and a game in hand on the Citizens. Over the past ten seasons, the Gunners won the Cup four times. In comparison, City won just once, albeit they did win 4 of the last five League titles.

City could have a full squad available, although Guardiola revealed Phil Foden had a foot problem. With that in mind, the England winger is unlikely to be risked. On a positive note, Kevin De Bruyne recovered from a knock picked up in last week’s 3-0 win against Wolves.

As is traditional in this competition, Guardiola will give some of his bench players a chance. In fact, in the last-round win (4-0) against Chelsea, seven different faces came into the starting XI.

You can bet on Stefan Ortega wearing the gloves, while youngster Cole Palmer is another who will benefit from playing in this competition. Meanwhile, Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva are likely to be promoted after playing cameo roles against Wolves.

In the last round of the League, Arsenal scored a late winner to defeat Manchester United. Capturing the title is priority number one, and on that note, the Gunners have already been knocked out of two competitions.

For the record, Mikel Arteta’s team suffered a group-stage exit from the Europa League, and they were beaten in the EFL cup by Brighton!

In the 0-3 win over Oxford, Arteta kept his usual front line of Saka, Nketiah, and Martinelli. Nevertheless, the coach made 6 changes to the team which won against United, and four of those came at the back.

What we do know about the visitors is former City player Gabriel Jesus is sidelined. Also, the likes of Reiss Nelson (hamstring) and Mohamed Elneny (knee) are injured and will miss the game. After coming from the bench against United, new signing Leandro Trossard could be given a first start.

While cup matches are a guessing game, City has more depth to their squad. Home advantage is another factor, and Guardiola will want his players to make a statement against the league leaders. Finally, recent criticism sparked a positive reaction from the hosts and that is going to be seen tonight.
