MARKET RASEN 3:20 THE WRECKIN 3/1

The pick I wrote up for the site is a non-runner, so I’ve replaced it with the one above. However, I don’t have the time to write a proper preview, but here you are:

CROAGH PATRICK is a professional loser, and he’s always worth taking on! As for HARDY BOY, he whipped around at the start of his last race, and he’s clearly getting an attitude.

It’s good to see Alice Stevens back in the saddle of THE WRECKIN. Henry Daly’s gelding is on a good mark, and he should be ok with giving weight to inferior rivals.

RACING SERVICE, we try and add 3-4 free racing picks per week for the gallery. For those wanting more, join Racing Premium – details here.

2.45 RAKHINE STATE 100/30 (NON RUNNER)

In the first two races at this afters Market Rasen, it is hard to look beyond the two favorites. Despite BOOK OF SECRETS (1.35) winning just once in 15 races, he appears to be genuine and stands out from the crowd.

Meanwhile, ROCK ON HARRY (2.10) will come into his own over fences, but for now, he looks like a good thing to win his first hurdle.

However, while the first two favorites look to be good things, the third is worth taking on. While GUINEAS AFFAIR did nothing wrong, he’s starting to look high in the handicap. Not to mention, the 7-year-old won his two chase races on left-handed tracks.

In fact, I thought he was all out to win a three-horse race at Newton Abbot, and since then the 2nd was well beaten the next time out. To cut a long story short, there are better short-odds favorites today!

The Hush Hush Partnership was rewarded for persistence when HERENORD won on the 25th attempt. Incidentally, that was the last time out at Newton Abbot when despite taking a keen hold he got the better of TIKKINTHEBOX.

Evan Williams’ 6-year-old was raised 5 pounds for that win, and it’s worth noting that he’s always run poorly on a right-handed track.

THE SELECTION IS:

While he might be a 10-year-old, RAKHINE STATE holds his form well! For the record, the D.J. Jeffries trained gelding won 5 of his 26 races and the latest was by 25L. At Perth, the son of ARAKAN was well on top of PAROS when left clear at the last.

On that occasion, Tom Bellamy always appeared to have everything under control. By only going up 5 pounds the performance is being underrated, and a mark of 110 isn’t a stopper!
