4:30 PEARLE D’OR 5/1

This is a good quality handicap for horses that are 4 years old and above!

One that could return to form at bigger odds is NIBRAS ANGEL. In February, Ismail Mohammed’s trained filly was a good-trained 3rd/7 in a Group Two race in Meydan. While she was disappointing at York, she’s got a bit of class. For the record, Sean Bowen is taking off a valuable 5 pounds and conditions will suit.

James Fanshawe is responsible for the favourite in HICKORY. Despite being a 6-year-old, the son of FREE EAGLE only raced 12 times. In his last race at Ascot, the gelding did well to finish 4th/21 in a big handicap. However, the gelding has his issues, and William Buick is under pressure to get him settled.

BE FRANK won his two races at 6 furlongs, and he didn’t quite get home when stepping up to 7F at Goodwood. On the contrary, Harry Charlton trained ZOUZANNA would be better over further. While the filly should come on for her recent run, she lacks a turn of foot.

Owen Burrows is a trainer I like a lot, and he should have been able to improve GAME SET since last running. Jim Crowley’s mount is feasibly handicapped, and conditions should be fine. While the four-year-old is one consideration, I prefer taking a course & distance winner.

On that note, PEARLE D’OR is the one that interests me the most. David O’Meara’s 5-year-old comes into this on the back of running a good 4th/13 at Ascot. The handicapper dropped him another pound in the weights, and 87 is an attractive mark.

I like the idea of Jason Watson taking over in the saddle, and the ground is immaterial to his chance. Since the race should be run to suit, this can be the gelding’s D-Day!
