QPR vs NORWICH – BETTING PREVIEW
EFL CUP (ENGLAND)
Two championship teams are involved in this rearranged EFL Cup match. Incidentally, in two meetings last season, both fixtures ended in low scoring draws.
For the record, Norwich finished the last campaign 13th in the League table. While they managed to take more points on the road, the Canaries are not used to being good travelers.
UNDERSTANDING QPR & TEAM NEWS
In comparison, QPR could only finish 20th of the 24 teams. Nevertheless, they ended 6 points above the relegation zone, and they improved after Gareth Ainsworth took charge.
As for the current season, the Hoops lost their season opener to Watford (4-0). However, at the weekend they bounced back to win in Cardiff, with Sinclair Armstrong being involved in both goals.
By the way, this is QPR’s first competitive home match of the season. In short, we expect Ainsworth to be out to appease the home supporters, and thus send out a strong starting XI.
The likes of Joe Gubbins and Ziyad Larkeche could come into defense, and Jordan Archer is likely to start in goal. Other than that, we are not expecting any radical changes.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM NORWICH
Meanwhile, there is no doubt about it, Norwich will be prioritizing the League and promotion! David Wagner’s team started the season with a 2-1 win over Hull, and followed up with a 4-4 draw in Southampton!
On paper, drawing with the relegated Saints in an away game is a good result. With that said, conceding a 97th-minute penalty meant three points became one. We should also mention that their opponent came out a goal better on the xG, and the Canaries were a little fortunate.
Wagner benefitted from his bench players at the weekend, and that suggests he could start with a few of those faces tonight. If that is the case, Marcelino Nunez, Tony Springett, Christian Fassnacht, and Adam Idah could be starters. In fact, other bench players who were not given time could also be given a try, and that is especially the case for reserve Keeper Tim Krul.
SUMMARY & BETTING PREDICTION
If this was the league match, we would agree with the bookmaker’s assessment. However, it’s not, and we believe that the Hoops are likely to send out a stronger starting XI. While this is what we would call a futures bet, it’s definitely one worth making!
