SOUTHWELL 12:25 ADDOSH 5/1

For the record, INFINITIVE left Michael Stoute to join David O’Meara! While the latter is a good trainer in his own right, this can be taken as a downgrade.

The Gosdens’ LADY LOULOU is stepping up in distance and wearing first-time blinkers. Since finishing 2nd/7 to FIRST DYNASTY, she’s dropped 4 pounds in the weights.  The filly must every chance, but at bigger odds ADDOSH is more interesting.

On her first run back on the flat, the mare ran better than her finishing position last time out. She can improve for an extra furlong, and according to her hurdles rating, she’s well treated off a dropping mark of 69.

Furthermore, the 5-year-old improved her rating over timber by 13 pounds since her previous stint on the flat.

SOUTHWELL 1:35 GINCIDENT 9/2

This is a decent race, and it is easy to understand why MOHATU is the favorite. However, the odds of around ‘’even’’ money are short, and the grey was a beaten favorite last time out. While Tom Marquand’s mount had excuses that day, dropping back in distance and racing on a different surface are other questionable factors.

I must admit to being surprised by the 12/1 being offered about DAGMAR RUN. David Simcock’s filly goes well for Hayley Turner, and she should run better than her odds signify.

Meanwhile, BRAVE EMPEROR won his last three races, and he improved each time. My worry with Archie Watson’s son of SIOUX NATION is the extra furlong on a more testing surface, Also, the extra 7 pounds will make life tougher, and he’s giving a fair bit of weight to the others.

As for the tip, GINCIDENT interests me the most. Richard Fahey’s colt was a comfortable winner yesterday, and his six-pound penalty is being mostly negated by the 5-pound claim of Mark Winn. This young jockey can be trusted to give the son of COTAI GLORY a good ride, and I’m not overly worried about the quick turnaround.

With the prospect of more to come, these odds are the only carrot we need.
