NOTTINGHAM 3:40 BELHAVEN 7/2
KINGMANIA has won back-to-back in the past, and she’s only 3 pounds higher for winning at Southwell. However, the form of that race is weak, and it’s not like she was strongly fancied.
On her seasonal debut, everything went wrong for BELHAVEN. Despite going off favourite for that Redcar race, Hayley Turner rode the filly into a mess. While the handicapper wasn’t gracious enough to drop her rating, today’s rider will be claiming three pounds!
NOTTINGHAM 4:10 CRYSTAL CAPRICE 4/1
The lightly raced GOLDEN LYRA is proven at this level, and she won her listed race on heavy ground at St Cloud. William Haggas will have the daughter of LOPE DE VEGA ready, so the only question remaining is whether she’s good enough!
While she should have the measure of most, giving three pounds to CRYSTAL CAPRICE is the deal breaker. With the Michael Stoute stable going well, the daughter of FRANKEL will take some stopping over a distance which should suit!
NOTTINGHAM 4:40 OPEN MARKET 9/2
I wouldn’t feel comfortable with taking the 11/10 about MUTAANY. To win this race, Charles Hills’ gelding will need to have his mind on the job. By that I mean, there is always a danger that a seasonal debutant is too fresh, and that will be harder to control in a small field.
In hindsight, Clifford Lee kicked too early on OPEN MARKET at Yarmouth. As a result, the filly was caught on the line. Nevertheless, it was a fair effort and at least she gets to race off the same mark. To cut a long story short, the ground isn’t an issue and the track will suit!

YARMOUTH 3:00 THEFASTNTHECURIOUS 11/2
BUNKER BOY is consistent, and it’s that which is counting against William Knight’s 4-year-old. In other words, he’s handicapped to the hilt and will need the first-time hood to bring improvement!
YOURKINDNESS won a maiden, and she made a fair return following a break. However, the Johnson filly isn’t particularly well treated. Furthermore, she would prefer a stiffer test at a different type of track!
Switching to turf could help THEFASTNTHECURIOUS, but on this occasion, I am with SARKHA. While Ed Dunlop’s 4-year-old was only 6th of 7 at Wolverhampton he wasn’t beaten far! Kieran Shoemark’s mount was dropped two pounds in the weights, and this switch to turf should do the trick.
YARMOUTH 4:00 REGAL RAMBLER 5/1
SIAM FOX is in the grip of the handicapper! DASHING DICK won two of his 31 races, whereas he finished 2nd and 3rd on 16 occasions. In short, he doesn’t want it!
GRAND LIBYA is having his first run following a gelding operation, he should be thereabouts. As for DANDY MAESTRO, he’s no 3/1 chance! In his last race, REGAL RAMBLER failed to stay 10F.
Alice Hayne’s 4-year-old is down to a winnable handicap mark, and dropping back to a mile on turf is the enticing part.
