BEVERLEY 3:45 BANKRUPT 5/1
This is just a low-quality class 6 race for older sprinters. Nevertheless, one stands out from the crowd, so read on.
LATIN FIVE keeps a busy schedule. In fact, the 6-year-old ran in 48 races of which he won on four occasions. At his peak, the son of CAMACHO was rated 91 and that’s probably the reason why he struggled to win.
In June and July of last year, Paul Midgley managed to get two wins out of the gelding. Since those were from ratings of 60 & 63, today’s 52 can be seen as advantageous. But even so, the easy ground and patchy form are worries!
The same trainer is responsible for CD winner IMPERIAL KHAN. The 4-year-old won just one of his 19 races, but one of those was just three runs back. Afterward, the son of KODIAC was a disappointing 7th of 9 at Thirsk before finishing 2/6 in a Hamilton Seller. From my reading of the race, Laura Coughlan’s mount needs to find something and the sift ground is a concern.
Meanwhile, the one I like most is last time out winner BANKRUPT. While Chelsea Benham’s 4-year-old was raised 8 pounds for winning at Bath, the son of ADAAY did win with a fair bit in hand. Also, according to past ratings (69OR) Joey Hayne’s mount is still well-treated from a mark of 54.
According to his breeding, the easier ground shouldn’t be an issue. Also, a stiff 5F should suit best, and front running will allow the jockey to poach the best ground.
To cut a long story short, this race looks winnable. With everything considered, we don’t need to dig any deeper.
