CHESTER 1:30 WINGED MESSENGER 9/1

A low draw is beneficial on this track, and that’s the reason why BEYOND BORDERS is at the head of the betting market. However, Karl Burke’s colt was easily outpaced in his last race, and being drawn on the inside can quickly become a burden if a runner can’t maintain his position.

Being drawn in the midfield should suit WINGED MESSENGER, and so should stepping back up to 6F. Hollie Doyle is a good booking, and the gelding ran well on his last visit to the track!

CHESTER 2:35 BLUE STORM 8/1

DUE FOR LUCK represents a yard I like, and he’s been given a favourable draw. Since the son of DUE DILIGENCE is lightly raced and capable of further improvement, he’s entitled to be the bookmaker’s favourite. Nevertheless, I want to take on the John and Sean Quinn-trained gelding with BLUE STORM.

The Gemma Tutty-trained colt won on his second attempt for his new yard. At Southwell, the BLUE POINT prodigy came through runners to win by a comfortable 1.5L margin, which could have been more if his jockey had asked. Returning to turf shouldn’t be an issue, and neither should fitness. After all, he goes well fresh and he comes from a stable in excellent form! With a good draw and Kevin Stott booked, these odds on offer are more than fair!

KELSO 3.45 MIGHTY MOTH 7/1

S R B Crawford brings plenty of runners from Ireland, and his LILY DU BERLAIS is worthy of respect. However, the Larne trainer is just 1/24 over the past two weeks, and his 8-year-old mare is on a high enough handicap mark.

As for DAME OF THE COTSWOLDS, she’s set to carry 4 pounds more than her real handicap mark. While James Turner is taking off 7 pounds, I’m not buying into the 4-year-olds chance.

It only took me 10 seconds to find my bet in this race! MIGHTY MOTH is a 6-year-old with plenty of scope for improvement. The handicapper started her off with a mark of 112, and she ran well to finish 2nd on her handicap debut. This track should suit the daughter of CHAMPS ELYSEE, and the better ground isn’t an issue!

FONTWELL 6:40 THE BOLD THADY 7/2

This is a good opportunity for THE BOLD THADY to record a first win. While the 7-year-old gelding finished 2nd and 3rd on 10 occasions, but he’s not been able to get his head in front. Nevertheless, she seems genuine, and Thomasina Eyston rides him best. Furthermore, he’s been dropped another 2 pounds in the ratings, and his best form was on a track like this!!

AWORKINPROGRESS won his last race at this track, but the ground and distance were very different. As for Syd Hosie trained THIRTYFOUR THIRTY, he needs to bounce back from a poor run!
