NAOMI OSAKA vs EMMA NAVARRO

This is the first meeting between Naomi Osaka and Emma Navarro!

Naomi Osaka, a former world number one with $21.6 million in prize money, won four Grand Slam titles between 2018 and 2021, evenly split between the Australian and US Open. However, she has never progressed beyond the third round of the French Open or Wimbledon.

Osaka has won only 57.8% of her matches on grass and recently lost against Bianca Andreescu and Qinwen Zheng. In her first-round match at Wimbledon, Osaka required three sets to overcome Diane Parry. The match stats reveal a low 47% first-serve percentage and only 38% of her second serves won. While Parry’s 10 double faults helped Osaka, she made five double faults and was broken four times.

EMMA NAVARRO – CAREER HIGH RANK

Emma Navarro, in contrast, is on a career-high ranking of 17, having won 37 of her last 53 matches. In the first round here, she convincingly defeated Qiang Wang 6-2, 6-0. The 23-year-old American won the Hobart title this season and reached another final at a lower-tier tournament in Paris. She also made three quarter-finals and has notable season victories over higher-ranked players like Aryna Sabalenka and Madison Keys. Navarro has won 71.4% of her grass matches and was a former Wimbledon Juniors semi-finalist.

SUMMARY:

Osaka excels on hard courts but has never advanced beyond the third round at Wimbledon. As a working mother, she hasn’t been able to return to her peak performance. While Navarro still needs to prove herself on the big stage, she is consistent, enjoys playing on grass, and is in great physical shape!
