5:05 FIRST FOLIO 3/1

POCKET THE PROFIT is a course and distance winner, and Ryan Moore is a good booking. George Boughey’s gelding won 5 of his 15 races, and he ran well enough last time out. However, the son of MAYSON is up in the handicap, and there are better options.

SIR OLIVER won his last race, but he’s not the easiest ride. Moreover, despite pulling last time out, dropping in trip isn’t ideal.

If he returned to his best, CAPOTE’S DREAM would have a big chance. Nevertheless, following two poor runs he’s got something to prove!

SPIRITED GUEST is in the grip of the handicapper, while ARISTOBULUS will need to improve for switching stables.

APHELIOUS was placed in all of his 8 races. In the meantime, he’s progressed from an opening mark of 70 to 83. Michael Appleby’s 3-year-old wasn’t beaten far in his last race, and he could improve further. With all that said, the son of KODIAC finishes 2nd more than he wins, and he’s been upped another 2 pounds.

For the winner, I won’t be looking any further than FIRST FOLIO. James Ferguson’s grey gelding is taking a significant drop in grade. In fact, the 4-year-old’s last three races were listed and two handicaps worth 130 and 95K.

The good ground isn’t a deal breaker, and getting Taylor Fisher to take off 7 pounds is an added bonus. The selection has proven himself from this type (97) of handicap mark, and he’s a course and distance winner. Finally, the race should be run to suit, in that this strong traveller will get the pace to chase.
