ZURICH vs LUGANO: BETTING PREVIEW & FREE PICK

SWISS SUPERLEAGUE (CHAMPIONSHIP GROUP)

Zurich have secured two 3-0 victories against Lugano in their three meetings this season. However, Mattia Croci-Torti’s side exacted revenge in their most recent encounter and currently sits higher in the league standings. With two games remaining, the visitors are comfortably in 2nd place, holding an 11-point lead over today’s 4th placed rival.

As it stands, FC Zurich (FCZ) is set to participate in the Europa Conference League qualifications next season. Whether they finish 4th or 5th, both positions offer the same opportunity, given that neither can climb higher and Winterthur trails by 5 points, making the situation nearly settled.

FCZ have had a tumultuous season, currently on their third coach. Bo Henriksen departed on February 13th, succeeded by Murat Ural, who interim trainer Ricardo Moniz replaced on April 22nd. Under Moniz, Zurich lost their first game against Young Boys (0-2), but rebounded with victories over Servette and Winterthur.

For today’s game, Zurich will be missing long-term absentees Miguel Reichmuth and Di Giusto. The availability of Junior Ligue, Nikola Boranijasevic, Silvan Wallner, and Rodrigo Conceicao remains doubtful.

Despite drawing the lowest crowds in the division, Lugano has enjoyed another fantastic season. Following consecutive wins against Winterthur and Young Boys (0-1), they are well-positioned to secure 2nd place and a spot in next season’s Champions League qualifications.

The Black & Whites are the best away team in the league, having lost only one of their last 14 matches. Additionally, Croci-Torti’s men have reached the Cup final against Servette, scheduled for June 2nd.

Lugano have just one confirmed absentee, Kreshnik Hajrizi. While Ousmane Doumbia has returned to training, this match might come too soon for the 31-year-old. The rest of the 34-man squad is fit and ready.

With the Swiss Cup final looming, Lugano’s players will be eager to secure their spots, ensuring a fully motivated team ready to claim three points.
